As Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days are over, I wanted to share with you some facts about it. It was 10th season of this international fashion week here in Ukraine and it showed great results.
37 collections of clothes and 50 collections of jewelry and accessories have been presented, and thanks to the efforts of MBKFD creative director Daria Shapovalova collections of Ukrainian designers for the first time were highlighted by the main site of the world of fashion Style.com.
"The 10th anniversary season of Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days was the best in its history: designers made the biggest jump and have grown to a level of Style.com. This is the first season when this resource highlights our 10 collections. I really liked the special presentations of Anna October and RCR Khomenko - they had great locations, ideas and collections. The list can also be attributed to Anton Belinskiy who presented a collection that takes part in the LVMH Prize. There were a lot of strong young designers. Very strong in this season was also a lecture program - Kiev Fashion Industry Forum was first held. Novelty of the season were also video conferencing on Skype." - commented creative director of Mercedes-Benz Kiev Fashion Days Daria Shapovalova.
During three days, 19 speeches took place: online conferences were held by the director of the New York Fashion Institute of Technology Valerie Steele, fashion director of The New York Times Vanessa Friedman, most authoritative fashion critic Hilary Alexander (who was the first international expert who visited Kiev 8 years ago), W Magazine columnist Rebecca Voight, creative director of London College of Fashion Tony Glenville, chief editor of Vogue.ru Maria Popova, photographer of Vogue Italia Adriano Cisani, photographer of L'Officiel France and Jaiperdumaveste Nabile Quenum and many other experts in the fashion industry.
I'm really proud that Ukrainian fashion world is expanding and constantly improving, that many Ukrainian designers are getting known all over the world, and that we have so many talented people.
